Today I want to share with you what it is like to go to a photoshoot with me. New photography clients usually ask what the shoot itself will be like, and I feel, as a photographer, it would be easier to show you.
Depending on where we will go for the shoot, to a park, your home, your farm, downtown or wherever… I will get all my gear ready and set my exposure in my camera so I can spend less time messing with my camera when you arrive.
Above is a little example of how my settings will move around until I’m satisfied and feel I won’t have to edit too much after the session is over. This specific evening, I wanted a little darker mood, as the sky had some cool clouds that I wanted to come through.
Just so you know, I generally get a little nervous before the sessions I do. I want to make sure I get the photos you want, that I capture the emotion of your love and happiness. So don’t feel bad if you’re a little nervous because I am too!
Once you arrive, we’ll chat about where you might want to go in the area we are, and then we’ll do a few test shots and chat. I find this helps relax you and me!
A lot of those test shots, like these, generally become part of your final gallery, because they are ALWAYS cute and very natural.
My style of photography is all about emotion and movement. I like to see you being you. The cool part is, I do some of the moving, while you get to snuggle close to your loved ones.
My favorite thing during shoots is to just get to know you and your family. Don’t be surprised if I ask you very specific questions about your work, or if I ask your kids about their classes. I also truly love to take photos of your kids running or playing! One time I even played a round of duck duck goose! Seriously, do not sweat it if your kids won’t stop and smile when I ask because I love to get photos of them just being their joyful selves!
The goal for every session for me is to have fun. Without fun, it will be hard to get you the photos you deserve. No fake laughs will be needed, just real interactions and true emotions.
I’ll be sharing the full blog for this family session later this month! It’s one of my faves, so stay tuned!
